Fast-growing Silicon Valley cyber-security company to work with Johannesburg based distributor as it targets share of US$100 million market London, XX, September 2015 – Advanced end-point security vendor Malwarebytes has partnered with Johannesburg based technology distributor Prodata. The deal is Malwarebytes first in Southern Africa and will build on Prodata’s experience of bringing fast-growing enterprise technology to the Sub-Saharan enterprise market. Founded by Ernst and Young entrepreneur of the year Marcin Kleczynski, Malwarebytes provides advanced anti-malware and exploit protection to address today’s complex cyber threats, which are designed to beat traditional anti-virus software. Originally targeted at the consumer market, where it has been downloaded over 300 million times to date, an enterprise grade version was launched due to rising demand. Sub-Saharan Africa has been identified as one of the fastest growing cyber security markets in the world, with revenues in the sector expected to hit US$100 million this year as internet penetration rates skyrocket. The deal between Malwarebytes and Prodata will aim to address growing demand for robust security products in the region. Anthony O’Mara, Vice President, EMEA at Malwarebytes, said: “The threat of cyber criminality has never been greater across the world and Africa is no different. As African businesses becomes increasingly connected, protection against this risk must increase. “By partnering with Prodata and utilising their excellent local sales and marketing expertise, we are confident we can reach an increasing number of companies across the region.” Jay Bradley, Managing Director, Prodata added: “We are constantly looking to deliver the most effective and innovative technology solutions to enterprises across Africa and have a proven track record of delivery. “Malwarebytes has an excellent reputation in the end-point security market and we are looking forward to building a successful partnership with them.” Malwarebytes has been specifically designed to work alongside traditional endpoint and network security products as part of a layered approach to protect against the threats these miss. Cybercriminals are also increasingly using zero-day vulnerabilities developed by well-resourced criminal teams to breach large organisations, a problem addressed by Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit. More information on Malwarebytes enterprise products can be found on the company website.
